A dish that's part fancy French haute-cuisine and one peasant food. A crowd pleaser and pares well with lashings of red wine.
Ingredients
steak
butter - 1 tbsp
salt
pepper
garlic - 2 cloves
onions
carrots
peppers
tomatoes
mushrooms
herbes de provence - pinch
bay leaves (2)
paprika - 1 tsp
red chilli flakes - 1 tsp
glass of red wine - 2
tomato paste - 1/2 can
balsamic vinegar - 1 tsp
Directions
Brown the steak with the butter, salt and pepper
Saute the garlic, onions, carrots, peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms with the herbs
Add the two glasses of red wine, the tomato paste and the balsamic vinegar
Cook at 300F for 2 hours
